How to Use Timers

Timers enable you to keep track of your hours as you work throughout the day. You can have an unlimited number of timers.

Creating and Starting Timers

When you begin working on a matter, create a timer to track the time you spend on the matter. To do so, select the matter name, and then click the "Start" button on the timer. The timer will begin.

You can create as many timers as you want, to separately track the work you do on different matters throughout the day.

At any time, you can fill in the "Description" field to describe the work you are doing. You can revise the description whenever you want, regardless of whether the timer is running.

Timer Auto-Save Feature

As you work, TimeSparrow will automatically save your timers every few minutes. That way, if you close your browser or have a power or internet outage, you'll still have a backup of your timers.

Stopping and Saving Timers

When you stop working on a matter, click the "Stop" button. The timer will stop, and the total number of hours you have worked will be displayed.

If you decide to resume work on the matter, click the "Start" button again, and the timer will resume from where it left off.

Finalizing and Saving Your Time Entry

When you are finished working on a matter, make sure the timer is stopped. Then, you can finalize and save your time entry. You can change the number of hours you worked, the description, and/or the matter. When you are satisfied with your time entry, click "Save."
